Mobile Elevating Work Platform Training

MEWPS or Mobile Elevating Work Platforms are used in industry both inside and outside of a warehouse when work at height is required by personnel/equipment. This allows work to be done in a safe and effective manner. This equipment has uses in many sectors but is commonly found in CCTV work and high level cleaning, Operators of MEWP trucks are required to hold a certificate of training which shows they have attended a training course and passed a test to a set national standard.

Course Venue

  • Commercial/ Private premises with access to a Mobile Elevating Work Platform.

Note: This course has been approved by the relevant accrediting bodies and complies with both the Health & Safety Executives Guidance HSG6 & Approved Code of Practice L117.

Safe-T-Solutions hold ITSSAR accreditation and NPORS accreditation and are able to offer Forklift truck training at customer premises or at one of our training centres around the UK. Certificates can be restricted to "in-house" to suit the job role of the operator or nationally accredited with ITTSAR or NPORS.

  • Responsibilities under the Health & safety at Work Act, 1974, Work at Height regulations 2005 PUWER 98 & LOLER 98
  • Operators Safety code including planning of work and Risk Assessment
  • Daily and weekly maintenance schedules
  • Identification of compoments and Pre-use checks
  • Interpretation of safety information
  • Selection and use of personal safety equipment
  • Start up/shut down procedures
  • Testing of safety devices, limit switches and hydraulic functions
  • Factors affecting stability & vehicle limitations
  • Motive and hydraulic controls of MEWPS
  • Manoeuvring in open and confined spaces (level/inclines/rough terrain - where applicable)
  • Positioning of the Mobile Elevating Work Platform for work
  • Basic operating techniques/accessing at height
  • Operating safely to Banksman signals
  • Working near overhead power lines
  • Working near water
  • Working on/travelling on public highway (where relevant)
  • Emergency lowering procedures/rescue planning
  • Battery care and maintenance (where relevant)
  • Re-fuelling procedures (where relevant)
  • Parking and post-stop checks
  • Requirements of thorough examinations
