NPORS Training

NPORS cards for plant operators will now carry the CSCS logo and as such will be recognised by the Major Contractors Groups (MCG) and National Contractors Federations (NCF) allowing operators to be accepted onto construction sites with NPORS accredited training

Current card holders that wish to upgrade to Trained Operator card for Plant Machinery:

  • Candidates who hold a current and in-date NPORS card that require the CPCS logo to be added to can now apply to have their card upgraded to the Trained Operator (RED) card or Competent Operator (BLUE) card - if they hold a valid NVQ.
  • The Red card is then valid for two years - in which time the candidate must successfully complete a relevant NVQ and apply for their Blue card.
  • The Blue card is valid for 5 years. A logbook/CPD record will also be issued by NPORS
  • Application for the new card can be made via the NPORS website or through Safe-T-Solutions. Please note we do charge an admin fee to process this on candidates behalves

New operators for Plant Machinery- no NVQ held:

  • Candidates who successfully pass the NPORS training on plant machinery will receive a Trained Operator card which is valid for two years for the date of test.
  • Within two years, the candidate must achieve the requisite NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the category(s) of plant held on their Trained Operator card.
  • A competent Operator card will then be issued through NPORS upon application along with a CPD record / log book

New Operators for Plant Machinery - NVQ held:

  • Candidates who successfully pass the NPORS training on plant machinery who already hold NVQ units relevant to the machinery they require on their NPORS card will be issued with a Competent Operator card
  • They will also be issued with a CPD record / Operator logbook
  • The Competent Operator card is valid for 5 years from the date of test
  • NVQ units must be notified to the office upon booking or the instructor on the date of training and proof must be provided in order for the unit credits to be submitted to NPORS for card issuing.

Industrial Truck Training:

  • Training on machinery that is not classed as plant machinery will still follow the normal NPORS card and certificate route and will NOT carry the CPCS logo

The scheme will run in a similar way to CPCS where by the operator is initially issued with a Trained Operator card and has two years to complete an NVQ to upgrade this to a Competent Operator card.
